¨ One size fits all and it has universal application to Mitral and Tricuspid Valves. Since there is only one size required there is no need to have multiple sizes of rings on the shelf or held on consignment and no need for the Theatre teams to worry about having the right sizes of ring for each case.
¨ The 3D flexibility inherent in the ring, resulting from the linked platforms, means that it can match the shape of the annulus more closely than a fixed ring whether in Systole or Diastole
¨ The integral nature of the suture-holes in the platforms means that the ring is held firmly in position against the annulus with no risk of rotation.
¨ The UniRing® has a very low profile compared with standard annuloplasty rings , only 1.2 mm compared with around 3mm for standard rings. As far as any surgery is concerned, the less invasive the item (namely the smaller and the thinner it is), the less fibrogenous reaction it will create. Since UniRing® is three times thinner (1.2mm) than the competitive rings (3.5mm), it should be less fibrogenous and much better tolerated by the body It will limit the blood flow disruption, the fibrosis phenomenon and the dehiscence risk.
¨ Despite its much lower profile the tests required for FDA and European approval show that the resistance of UniRingâ is much higher than the strength acting on the annulus.
¨ The suture-platforms act like pledgets so there is no damage to tissue caused by the sutures
¨ The suture-platforms are linked together with flexible joints which distributes the tension more evenly between the sutures around the ring
¨ The UniRing® can be implanted either as a closed ring or an open ring
UniRing Benefits
¨ The transparent sizers with the suture layout clearly marked allows the surgeon to see exactly where the ring will be implanted before it is sutured into place and the exact sutures required
¨ The sizers are already sterilised and provided within the UniRing® kit so there is no need to have these products separately sterilised – this saves cost and time.
¨ The UniRing® is preloaded onto a transparent holder which contains numbered guide holes which enable the surgeon to suture through the suture-platforms of the UniRing® accurately according to the size required
