Delacroix-Chevalier and Landanger instruments are made to the highest standards of design and craftsmanship to provide the very best instruments available. Every instrument is hand finished by highly skilled craftsmen– no machine can make the precise adjustments to ensure that every instrument is perfectly balanced, aligned and honed to the exacting standards necessary

Laser DataMatrix Marking – Landanger have pioneered the application of a unique Laser engraved EAN128 compliant 2D barcode to each individual instrument to enable full traceability of the instrument throughout its life. Landanger were the first company to master this difficult technique over 5 years ago and are still the leaders in its application. Very few, if any, other companies offer this and those that do are not able to offer the same level of detailed information in the barcode.
The following pages cover some of the more popular instrument categories and have links to the Delacroix-Chevalier online catalogue. There you will be able to see the instruments and their reference codes.
Surgical Instruments
Why are these instruments so good?
Raw material – Delacroix-Chevalier only use the best German or French Stainless Steel alloys which have the correct chemical composition for the category of instrument. For example, scissors are made from an alloy that has a higher carbon content than the steel used for forceps to give a harder edge, whilst the steel using in forceps or clamps needs subtly more ductility. Many instruments are also available in Titanium.

Skilled Craftsmen – every instrument is finished by hand by a team of highly skilled craftsmen who are able to bring their years of experience to bear on each instrument to ensure it is perfect before leaving the factory.
Individual calibration - all instruments are individually tested for correct performance according to their design specifications- for such things ranging from the closing pressure for clamps or forceps to the hardness of a scissor blade
Heat Treatment – during the production process the quenching and tempering of the steel is carried out to rigorous standards to ensure the right temperature gradients are achieved every time to deliver the correct material properties in the finished instrument
